To the Europeans who are angry and scared: I see you, I promise. You have the right to be afraid and upset. But forgive me if I don't particularly give a shit about your fear when I'm seeing my neighbors and people like me being executed in cold blood.
I just finished #ClairObscur Expedition 33, and while I'm glad I played it, there seems to be one thread that all the articles are missing: (BIG SPOILERS IF YOU DIDN'T FINISH THE GAME IN THE NEXT TWEET) #disability 1/2

I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.

This is dope as hell. I've done my best to learn/listen as a white person, but it's a lifelong process.
Hi there, fellow white people (especially my fellow white dudes)! It's Black History Month, and all of us who have lived in the privilege bubble our entire lives should get educated! Every day this month, 28daysofblackhistory.com drops a new story in your inbox. Every single one of them is amazing.

Roommate is doing better, thank whatever runs the universe.

Baby sister turns 40 today, which makes me feel way older than it did when I turned 40.

I wish I could participate in the general strike, but I will literally be fired if I don't catch up on work from last week when I was ill.

Sigh.

My roommate just got taken to the hospital in an ambulance and I'm worried sick. And I have to fucking work tonight, because I'm catching up after I was sick.

I hate this.

Had to stop watching Susannah Lipscomb's lovely doc on the dissolution of the monasteries ( @history-hit.bsky.social ) bc frankly, her descriptions of Henry VIII's violence are so evocative that they're reminding me of a certain orange who shall not be named. Ugh. Lol

Forgive the substack link, but Jen Rubin articulates a thought I had not too long ago really well here.

The murders of Good and Pretti are horrible. But it took white people who were essentially model citizens getting killed for so many to wake up.
Why, for Too Many, Alex Pretti’s Murder Counted More
We must find sympathy for those unlike ourselves

This may be a long shot, but I want to ask: I'm learning LatAm Spanish & while it's going well, it isn't giving me what I need. I speak two romance languages already and I feel like I can be doing more. Especially with how badly Spanish translators are needed right now. Help? #langsky #español

Get ready for a Democratic Party influencer blitz to convince you that replacing Greg Bovino with Tom Homan is a huge win you should be grateful for.

Meanwhile here’s Tom Homan:

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Jewish memory calls on us not only to mourn, but to act – to honor life, to defend human dignity, and to dismantle systems that thrive on hate and dehumanization. 3/4

I take no joy in being right, and frankly, that's rare for my autistic ass. But I was right. And so were millions upon millions of people who have never wanted to be wrong more.
All the anti-war and anti-occupation protestors were right. All the far leftists were right. All the “woke scolds” and your friend who’s “too woke” were right. They were somehow even more right than they may have realized at the time. But really, it was always obvious they were right.

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

"But Europeans are scared!"
(Content warning: ICE violence)

At around 1:40 this afternoon, I witnessed federal agents with ICE and CBP arresting a US citizen after hitting her car from behind, and then kneeling on the head of a legal observer in the snow, preventing breathing and bloodying their face.

Fuck this bigoted cow. (Rowling, obviously, not Jess O'Thomson!) I'm not trans, but I don't have to be to see how awful Rowling is.
It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

I was cleaning my closet today and I found a garbage bag containing my single remaining (fake) squishmallow.

I thought I'd thrown him away when we got bedbugs 2 years ago, but I didn't. And since 2 years is the amount of time something has to wait to be bug free ... I have him back now.

Happy. 🙂

Finished Act 2 of #ClairObscur yesterday and I -still- feel like I've been hit by a truck. There's been some choices I haven't loved in this game, but the whole end of the last fight to the end of the act ... oh, I was weeping for fictional characters. My god.
January 13, 2026 at 8:28 PM
I can answer this: it's called supremacy clause immunity. You usually can't charge Feds for acts committed while acting on federal business. There's some exceptions, but not for this kind of thing.

I'm not happy about it, don't get me wrong, but that's the law right now. #attorney

Instead of talking about my hellscape country, I'm going to salute @goingmedieval.bsky.social - I subscribe to #HistoryHit and I love their work, but somehow it's only Dr. Eleanor Janega's series that seem to be subtitled. IDK; if you have anything to do with that, Dr. Janega - thanks! XD

Was listening to a documentary and had my mind blown: does anyone seriously doubt that Baldwin IV had leprosy/Hansen's disease? Yes, medieval writers used leprosy as a catch-all diagnosis, but the signs are all there. Wild claim, saying it was something else. #history

So a CBS Evening News reporter actually did a pretty solid breakdown of the ICE murder video, talking to a former agent who details all the ways Ross messed up. And yet: It didn’t air on the actual show tonight. CBS did post it to YouTube—and it has nearly 800k views already youtu.be/6ywLEESFDu0?...
