The Moment We Lost The Plot
It has never been easy for me to write about January 6. ...

Weird this happened right before:

1. Anniversary of Jan 6 insurrection.
2. Release of some part of 5m Epstein docs recently “found” by SDNY.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

Best thing I’ve read this morning, from a human rights lawyer in Mexico. Translation is in the ALT-text.

Tune in the press conference at 11 am. I’m sure you will get your fill then, unfortunately.
I feel like I haven’t even been properly lied to about the purposes of this war

Hell of a wake up call, and yes.

Thank you for the suggestions! I read this critique, which was very interesting too. open.substack.com/pub/blackgir...

Thought provoking for sure.

I use a Loftie — so I can keep my phone downstairs. But thanks to this munchkin, I only need it for wake ups before 5 am.

Honestly curious about your take and the problems in the portrayals. (It’s one of a few movies that I saw this year and liked it.) I loved Willa. Was Perfidia’s character problematic because she left? Or is it something I’m missing altogether? 😀

The rule of law still matters — in this situation, at least.

You are not alone and it is *not* you.

Create engaged space by non-conversation-based activities. Watch a fave show together. Make dinner - let them pick it. Drive to the store to get dessert.

Get a dog; it helped immensely — a non-judgmental creature was a huge unlock to Kid’s kindness.

Since most repeat patrons undoubtedly live in the DC area, we will return to the Kennedy Center once Trump’s name is removed and great artists book shows again. The predictably negative attendance effect of the board’s naming decision doesn’t have to be long term by any means.
This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

It kills me when a new client sheepishly admits they assumed their fed gov contract worked like a typical commercial one.

Most often happens when we face a False Claims Act investigation that may turn criminal.

It’s effectively a K of adhesion with v. serious consequences for a breach.

"They found the coats on Thursday morning.

Fifteen winter coats. Good ones, not garbage. Hanging on the chain-link fence outside Lincoln Elementary. No note. No explanation. Just coats zipped up like ghosts waiting for bodies.

This is a generous contribution (yay Rick Steves!) but remember that small ones make a difference too.

This is the time of year when I take stock and make donations — some bigger & some less so — to make a difference in the DC community.

There is so much suffering that we can alleviate.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

They changed National Airport’s name to Reagan in 1998. Locals still call it National or, maybe, DCA. I would guess that in 27 years, we will still (proudly) call it the Kennedy Center.

This is so important right now. Even if you can only do one small thing to help, do it. Don’t get caught up in whether your action will fix the whole. We have to be in this together, piece by piece.
My position on taking action. And on the important space between everything and nothing.
