One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law!

That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

They followed her to her job, barged in without permission, and abducted her in front of her coworkers and in the presence of children. ICE agents are cruel, dangerous, and lawless.
‘I have papers’: Child care worker detained by ICE officers inside a Chicago day care
Raids inside day cares had been off limits until this year, when, on his first day in office, President Donald Trump removed that protection.

The cruel ICE enforcement will touch us all—The care workers who are targeted because of their race and where they work, the day care center that is now short staffed, the families desperate to find affordable care so that they too can work.

ICE is a problem for us all.

Child care educators are the backbone of our communities. Yet this morning, a teacher in Chicago was forcibly removed from her day care center.

No one deserves to be treated this inhumanely. And especially not those who care for our kids.

Last night, we went to the USDA building to send a big message to Trump: Half isn't good enough—FULLY fund SNAP. Trump has the power to stop this but chooses politics over people. One in eight families rely on SNAP, and half funding means hunger. Don't starve families so you can play politics.

Hey USDA and Pres. Trump: women and families are tired of your political games. Half the funding for SNAP means many families will still be going hungry. It means moms will still skip meals so their children have something to eat.

Enough.

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

Remove him from office.

I lived with my dad when I was very young and he didn’t apply for food stamps or free school lunches, though we qualified.

So, I went hungry. It was awful. I begged neighbors for saltine crackers. I can say it was the worst time of my life.

Children shouldn’t go hungry. Restore SNAP benefits.
