Since the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credits expired, marketplace enrollees are seeing significantly higher insurance costs. Here’s how that’s playing out in Tennessee.

Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests

Good morning and fuck Jeff Bezos. Nothing led by a billionaire is good for journalism.

Ai companies need to minimally temporarily block any production of images related to terms in the news like “Alex Pretti,” “ICE,” etc.

But again, it’s ridiculous that even with video to compare it to, people are not validating things before they share them.

Araceli rules. Got to work next to her on many legislative issues last year and she’s a pro. Glad she’s with the Banner.
Meet our new multimedia reporter, Araceli Crescencio! Araceli will report on immigration and business, produce social media and occasionally translate stories into Spanish, splitting her time between us and Nashville Noticias. Read this essay on her journey to report on the city that raised her.

As the Tennessee Department of Children's Services grapples with a shortage of transitional and foster homes, the number of kids sleeping in DCS offices has skyrocketed. I looked into what's driving the spike at the highly-scrutinized department.

445 Tennessee kids slept in DCS offices in 2025, marking 400% increase
The longest stay for a child in a DCS office in 2025 was 102 days, while the average stay was 7.8 days.

Last, the camera swaying back and forth is meant to mimic someone holding a phone but it’s not organic. If it were really someone’s hand, it would probably be a little less smooth/rhythmic and would move vertically too, not just horizontally.

(Again THIS IS AI/FAKE)
January 21, 2026 at 1:04 AM
Anyway, it’s not our fault that we have to dodge Ai and it keeps getting harder, but it is our responsibility not to believe everything at face value and it is REALLY our responsibility not to share anything without verifying.

The “cop” also blends in and out of the fire escape as he moves and his teeth and lips kind of come and go as he speaks

All of the “people” also have this kind of Ai glow/halo around them
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
The other things are more subtle morphing things like here. Look at the two “agents” flicker and meld together
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
I mean this is not how I blink at least
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
The other big one to me is this guy’s blink. It’s the only blink between him and his buddy for the whole video and uh it’s not a blink.
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
And look how the letters melt and morph throughout. This is a font only available through Ai and hallucinogenic dr*gs.
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
Speaking of fake words, wtf is up with that street sign? The first word is almost intelligible but the suffix kinda looks like letters but not really.
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
Final point on the badge: Look how the fake letters change and morph throughout the video
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
The fake badge is pretty convincingly shaped like the real NYPD shoulder patch, and you might think it’s just out of focus, but it never comes into focus. Also, if you look closely, the colors are messed up in the words don’t resemble the real words on the patch.
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
First red flag to me is this fake badge. Ai is very bad at letters, so these jumbled, unrecognizable words are the first thing to pay attention to.
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
First, here’s the FAKE video
January 21, 2026 at 12:55 AM
There’s an Ai video circulating on Instagram today that, if you just watch it and scroll, is reasonably passable as a real police interaction.

With no shame to anyone who believed it, let’s pick it apart so we can spot other ai videos later.

(Warning, longish thread)
