Prior to 1993, women weren’t allowed to wear pants on the Senate floor. Senators. Moseley Braun (D), & Barbara Mikulski (D) wore trousers. The male-dominated Senate was unhappy, but it lead to the dress code being clarified so women cld wear pants.
