The brain drain will be when scientists are forced into other careers/jobs so that they can keep paying the bills. They will never return.

There aren't enough science jobs in other countries to absorb even a fraction of those laid off.
On a basic level- you can't expect US talent to sit on their hands and wait until maybe, hopefully there's a job for them. A handful might be able to do that, but the majority are going to leave. Countries are actively seeking to take advantage of US brain drain.

I worry that not enough of a big deal is being made about how long-term the devastation of these budget cuts to our scientific and health agencies will be, beyond the absolute ruin they will cause in the acute period.

Incredible thread
On Friday, my son stayed home from school because he had a sore throat and wasn’t feeling well. He went with my husband to his office for the morning while I handled our daughter. When he came back at lunch, he was not interested in eating, saying his throat hurt too much. 1/n

The de-growth folks need to support Trump
Trump on China: "They made a trillion dollars with Biden selling us stuff. Much of it we don't need. Somebody said, 'oh, the shelves are gonna be open.' Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls, and maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more."

Happy birthday to the name "Big Bang.” Fred Hoyle, defending his steady state theory on the BBC, accidentally coined the term for the prevailing model of the early Universe #OTD in 1949. He was criticizing "the hypothesis that all matter of the universe was created in one big bang." 🧪 🔭 ⚛️ 💥

Look at this image of ISS.

Notice something weird?

Well, it is taken ... FROM ABOVE.

Some cool folks here in AUS (HEO) use cameras aboard satellites to image other satellites (for numerous applications).

Remember, everything is moving very fast up there. So getting it to look like this is epic!

ProPublica looked into science grants that Ted Cruz's team flagged as "radical" and "neo-Marxist" and, uh.

This would be good comedy if it didn't matter so much www.propublica.org/article/ted-...

Recently launched NVS-02 unable to raise orbit due to valve failure.
@ISRO will try to use satellite in its existing orbit.

Yeah. I thought Mars Sample Return was hard until I saw someone on the internet speculating about the reverse. For a Martian, Earth Sample Return would be way harder.
"It hits the atmosphere going *how* fast? And then you want a rocket that will get back out?"
Martian invasions are a one way trip.

Well, big news. I am planning to move the Space Library to a new home. And I need some help - in 35 years I've never asked for funding, donations or subscriptions for my Space Report, to keep it independent, but now I need to raise some additional funds.
