Trump says Walmart should “eat the tariffs.” But if companies absorb the cost, prices stay flat and demand doesn’t shift. So what are the tariffs really doing? They start to look less like a jobs policy—and more like a quiet, long-term tax.

It’s odd hearing Scott Bessent on Meet the Press argue that higher prices are fine as long as wages grow faster—that’s essentially the same argument Biden’s team made. Especially rich coming from a team that insists Biden was economically inept. #EconTalk #TariffLife

Sharing this great idea: Let an author know you taught their work—it might just make their day! #AcademicSky #EndOfSemester
My regular suggestion: At the end of the semester why not reach out to someone whose work you taught and let them know? These days we have very little idea who teaches our stuff and in what contexts. It takes almost no time and can really make their day.

When Homer and the other poets notice Virgil returning to Limbo, they say “l’ombra sua torna, ch’era dipartita." While most translations interpret this as “his shade is back, that had departed,” I suggest the more modern "Guess who's back? Back again. Shady's back."
