"Sam believes that if Rich Hill had pulled off a perfect game, Puig's catch would have gone down as one of the greatest catches in history. Instead, it will be remembered by only a handful of people."
Confirmed! I have no recollection of this catch.

The Brattle theater is playing what they call the Ultimate Double Feature: “we play the first movie up until the point when the characters enter a cinema to watch a different film”, then play the entirety of that 2nd film, then finish up the 1st film. (via @tcarmody.bsky.social) [brattlefilm.org]

So excited bout R.J. joining the Nationals that I made a two minute supercut of the face of the franchise conspicuously failing, weird pebblehunting.substack.com/p/let-it-fly

R.J. is very special, to me and also just objectively. He has basically become the Voice inside my head. Incredibly high standards, totally immune to bullshit, no personal agenda other than great work. If 99 baseball insiders said one thing and he said the other I’d follow him. Godspeed and go Nats.
I’m using the past tense because Friday will also mark my final day as an active writer. I’ll always love and hold the craft dear, and I’ve been lucky to have this career. But it’s time for me to take on a new challenge. That’s why I’ve accepted a position in the Washington Nationals front office.

watching a compilation called "MLB's craziest throws" and there's one of Brandon Phillips throwing behind his back to the shortstop, who is Eugenio Suarez! That is crazy.

Thanks to the listeners who have followed along with Grant and I these past four years. The Roundtable will not be back in 2026, and we won’t be able to do the show elsewhere. A bummer, in part because I just had so much fun talking to Grant and Sam twice a week. I’m going to miss that a great deal.
Our status has regretfully shifted to "it's complicated." The Athletic will not be bringing The Roundtable back, and we are asking for permission to yammer about baseball somewhere else. The three of us still want to do it, but ... well, it's complicated.

Bummer outcome. I'm grateful to Andy & Grant for letting me in.
I got skittish that the Orioles were going to blow up my Annual thesis by signing Framber (or someone similar) in the interim period before publication, but NOPE.

Hey grant. What happened to the roundtable podcast? Is it still alive?
