Something often missed: for Kuyper, Calvinism’s confession of God’s sovereignty is fitting with and grounds representational democracy (and points to America). The ‘every square inch’ quote is no ground for theonomy. If Jesus is Lord, then no mere human or Christian can be.

The consequences of not resting in God, @timkellerdaily.bsky.social says, is that you would always be ‘working while you’re resting’, rather than ‘resting while you’re working’ - I find this to be profoundly true.
