Mary’s ‘yes’ was not a footnote. It was God honoring a woman’s consent so fully that salvation Himself waited upon it. Patriarchy calls consent optional. God calls it sacred.

I was thinking about Coakley's "hunt the pigeon," and I started imagining the Holy Spirit, still depicted as a dove, but as a dove fierce enough to drive off sin and evil.
