One thing about my new job (which is teaching English to mostly-Japanese university exchange students) is that it's really restoring my Japanese vocabulary! I feel like so much is coming back to me lately (I'm not speaking it with the students, I'm mostly eavesdropping lol)

I've been thinking about the holidays and whether it's worth attempting to go home. Like 1) I'm worried about my wife's safety and well-being and 2) I don't want to spend time with my step-dad's super fashy extended family (they always come over on holidays).

Five years ago I was a lonely pre-k teacher in Chicago whose bank account was overdrawn almost every month. Since then I have gone to grad school, met my wife, changed careers, and moved to Toronto. I'm living a much happier and more comfortable life than I was in the year 2020 on a personal level.
Ok. It feels like quite literally everything is worse than it was 5 years ago. Products, commercials, the world etc.
