Behold a single sleeve, knitted over the past 2 days while I’m ill.
Please don’t expect completed garment for months.

Sometimes you should just enjoy something fully and not photograph it.

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence.

“In truth, Freud sees nothing and understands nothing.”

"He once remarked that the Indians preferred to go to hell to avoid meeting Christians."

(There's a stack of 3 books next to my bed but the other 2 didn't really come through with much, especially compared to this one)

He failed to declare £333,000 in outside interests (more than 3x MPs annual salary)…

I just want to express an old outrage.

After separation, I made some portraits of our three children. I offered to the kids dad free copies of the images. He declined, and told me I wasn’t allowed to earn money from them either. I was not ALLOWED to use them to make money.

Am still outraged.

I’m poorly, & my clients have gracefully acknowledged my cancellations (that I can’t really afford) but it means I can keep my achy snotty self warm & cosy, reading intermittently about children’s artistic development & mapping it to an understanding of self, while I watch the rain fall.

Facebook reminds me that on this day in 2017 a woman turned to me in the veg section of Sainsbury's and said "hopefully now we've left the EU we can have loose carrots that aren't wet"

The view across the Lake Saimaa in winter. The Pisamalahti hillfort is in Sulkava Finland, on a rock with 55-metre-high perpendicular rock surfaces above the lake. On the eastern side there is tens of metres of 3-m-wide and 2-m-high stone wall. #HillfortsWednesday

I wrote this about the Northern Lights last time we had the chance. I’m largely envious of anyone who has clear skies.

I think tomorrow I’m going to put myself to some creative writing, as a diversion. I’ve several tasks & a dog walk to undertake but as am poorly I shan’t try the gym, rather something gentle at home.

thing about such records is they give your habitual domestic life something of a Tarantino movie quality

Forgot to tell you all, on Saturday, stumbling up a spongy, muddy hill as the course of a natural spring seemed to ‘be the footpath’, I encountered a deer. It was one of those situations where natural wonder makes time stand still. It was a little distance off but watched me and I watched back.

When my son turned three, 8 gave him one of those enormous "birthday boy" badges to wear. He smiled and said "mum help me with this, I'm terrible with safety pins. I actually once accidentally killed a man."

Kiddo is 15 today & as far as I know from his character, he remains painfully honest.
