Eh....not really? Byleth is the main protag before the HLs are. SS at its core is about Byleth and their falling out with Edelgard and them gradually accepting they need to deal with her. Also Rhea said that she leaves everything in Byleth's hands in the cutscene before the TS so....

And Byleth isn't some child who will throw a tantrum about not wanting a leadership role, nor do they want to return to the mercenary life which canonically made them miserable and disassociate on the daily. Friendly reminder that Byleth despises the dehumanizing Ashen Demon nickname btw!

There's validity to disliking SS in the sense that Byleth rules by default and nothing indicates they WANT to rule, but at that point there's no one left to do the job, Rhea is dead/self exiled and most nobles retreat to their territory. Why is it the worst thing in the world for Byleth to lead?

i def understand wanting to work through or reflect one's religious trauma in fanwork but the church of seiros is doctrinally not catholicism and sometimes people include details taken from catholicism that again, are directly contradicted in canon

LRPs make SUCH a good point.... It's so funny how CF has you raze the continent and burn everything to the ground in the name of conquest and instead paints it like a quirky rebellion/school project because you're fighting on the side of the aggressors but SS shows the actual price of such a reset

Far too many people talk about problematic power dynamics in FE ships but then gush about Lord/Retainer ships that's all I'm saying.

Hence, why Heroes is on top. They gave her more she got in both Fodlan games, with the only downer being a lack of a weaponry (srsly, why isn't Seiros a sword unit, IS, you and KT really only bothered giving her a unique sword skillset in CF?? her worst hour??).
Honestly one of the many, MANY (and I can't stress this enough; M A N Y) ways this game screws Rhea over as a main character is depriving her of supports and limiting her to just Byleth. Seriously, we always hear from Cyril, Catherine or Shamir about her kindness but we never see them interact

my biggest point of contention with this game is that it tries really hard to make Edelgard's behaviour seem logical when it's several years of her throwing a weird temper tantrum because she's mad about stuff that she's been lied to about.
