Eh....not really? Byleth is the main protag before the HLs are. SS at its core is about Byleth and their falling out with Edelgard and them gradually accepting they need to deal with her. Also Rhea said that she leaves everything in Byleth's hands in the cutscene before the TS so....

And Byleth isn't some child who will throw a tantrum about not wanting a leadership role, nor do they want to return to the mercenary life which canonically made them miserable and disassociate on the daily. Friendly reminder that Byleth despises the dehumanizing Ashen Demon nickname btw!

There's validity to disliking SS in the sense that Byleth rules by default and nothing indicates they WANT to rule, but at that point there's no one left to do the job, Rhea is dead/self exiled and most nobles retreat to their territory. Why is it the worst thing in the world for Byleth to lead?
