I can't help but think of "Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed" by Jared Diamond detailing how societies have collapsed through failing to manage their natural resources, such as wood and water. It's not just endangered species we are protecting, it's all species, including us.

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

It is totally insane that this is being allowed to happen in a country where our parents or grandparents or great grandparents fought to defeat the Nazis. People have no direct memory of Nazism and are apparently incapable of learning from history.
