If I ever start to shit post about anything and everything in media that I consume I hope somebody checks me on it. Just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean it sucks and just because I love something doesn’t mean it’s the best thing ever. No need to put down something that others love.

What’s happening in Minneapolis right now looks like it could be the prequel the ‘The Handmaids Tale’. These monsters watched that show as a playbook, not the warning that it is.

Loving Holly Hunter as the lead of the new ST: Starfleet Academy, she’s quirky and funny, very much her own person that feels like she’s lived the centuries that’s been established. Also love that she sits how she wants in her command chair goes around barefoot at times.

@megardener.bsky.social easiest follow back I’ve ever done. Avid scifi reader, Andor quote and a meme of a book quote I’ve got on my list to read.

Of the 26 books I read last year there wasn’t one I didn’t enjoy. My top favorites though, in order are:

Project Hail Mary
Flowers for Algernon
Klara and the Sun
Downward to the Earth
The Murderbot Diaries (this is a cheat, loved the entire series)
Make It So (audiobook read by Patrick Stewart)

It’s not because it’s fruit cake that I won’t be eating this free holiday treat left in the lobby, it’s because #Pluribus has forever changed my relationship with “free” food.

Can’t hype up Pluribus enough, each new episode is a masterwork. Truly some amazing talent on display here. Rhea Seehorn is incredible and her equally defiant southern neighbor is the most wonderfully stubborn character I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

@devindra.bsky.social getting close to the end of The Good Fight season 6 and it’s batshit crazy and seemingly prophetic and scary as shit. And I mean batshit crazy in the best way possible. Thanks again for the repeated recommendations to watch it on The Filmcast.

Who could ever have imagined when I played a fictional rebel who joined the Resistance to oppose a criminal Authoritarian & wannabe King, it would be happening in real-life?

Soon we’ll learn that the orange clown bought a shit ton of Advil shares before making these statements about Tylenol. Maybe the profits of those illegal trading practices will cover some of the lawsuits.

@ericheisserer.bsky.social I’m not sure if you check this account any longer but I wanted to say how much more I appreciate your screenplay of ‘Arrival’ having just read the short story it was based on. Both are beautiful stories, yours adding the stakes to have made it more of a grander story.

I’ve managed to read many books this year, more than I’ve read in the past ten years collectively. ‘Klara and the Sun’ was very affecting and will be on a very short list of books that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Beautiful in it’s melancholy and sadness, i couldn’t put it down.

@devindra.bsky.social I finally checked out ‘The Good Fight’ based on your thankfully frequent recommendation. As good as the Good Wife, at least in the first season. Thanks!

I’ve never wished for something to be true more than this and that is a sad state that this world has left us to be in, now if all the other evil would hurry up and do the same.

So many YouTube videos about a certain someone’s impending demise and I’m just like, “stop teasing us, just let us know when it’s done.”

One of my favorite (and most common) novel structures?

Multiple storylines. When done well, it's SO good.

But it's also SO easy to get wrong.

If you’re writing a multi-POV or multi-timeline novel, watch out for these 5 common mistakes: 🧵

Authoritarian regimes are notorious for making people think what they perceive to be reality is not actually real. Sometimes this is called creating "unreality" sometimes "gas-lighting." It doesn't matter which label is used, the goal is the same: make people doubt what they see with their own eyes.
