i really enjoyed reading this thread. puts into words a lot of how i've felt about 2015-2017 star wars, and why everything post-TLJ has felt like its in a haze.
Ok look I do enjoy The Last Jedi but like… let’s just talk about it as a single film without even connecting it to other Star Wars canon, it’s extremely didactic in a way that absolutely was calculated to annoy people and i don’t think that’s just a hardcore fan thing

i hear this stuff around star citizen. people spending tens of thousands of dollars on MULTIPLE aircraft-carrier-sized space ships, operating under the assumption that some singletons out of a playerbase of 50m DAU will be DESPERATE to be the third-engineer's mate on one of their battleships
there's a very specific flavor of video game studio head whose entire plan for their game demands that it is automatically, overwhelmingly Fortnite-level popular at launch in order to function in any way.
"I'm not sure it would've been smart as a company to say, 'we are going to compete with the biggest game on the planet.'"

Heading into the 2028 primaries, I think it's important to understand that what can really reach swing voters is a content creator, and we need to support a candidate with that skillset. As a Mayor Pete 2020 hater it brings me no joy to say this.
