ME: I've never dated a cenobite before. I'm not sure, who pays?
CENOBITE: Your panic is exquisite.
ME: I wouldn't mind going dutch…?
CENOBITE: I can taste your pain on the air. A shiver of electricity. I am going to hold your head down on the floor and open your skull from behind.
ME: I'll just pay.

As a kid, I was heartbroken when this seemingly vanished into the dustbin of oblivion.

There’s so much vulnerability in Cameron Winter’s warble.
December 9, 2025 at 5:56 PM
And the crazy thing is Winter’s solo album Heavy Metal might even be better. His voice is going to be an obstacle for a lot of people. It grows on ya.
The latest album from the indie-rock group Geese, “Getting Killed,” “is such a raw and unprotected art work,” Amanda Petrusich writes. The band’s front man, Cameron Winter, “is obviously someone who feels unusually deeply.” newyorkermag.visitlink.me/JLo8y7
Will Geese Redeem Noisy, Lawless Rock and Roll?
Critics love to make these kinds of breathless pronouncements. But with this band, currently on tour to promote its album “Getting Killed,” controlled hysteria is sort of the point.

Just finished Squid & the Whale & Jay Kelly. 2 things. Once again reminded that Jeff Daniels gifted us w/ possibly the most insufferable prick to come out of a motion picture in the 21st century and Jay Kelly is charmingly fine.

I’m getting really tired of the Carol sucks discourse. Let’s review. Her wife is 1 of a billion people murdered in a rushed effort by an alien virus to force the entire human race into giving up its free will for the sole purpose of fulfilling its biological imperative to spread. 1/

Yes. That’s worked out so well.

We need someone w/ the courage to argue A Christmas Carol isn’t really a Christmas movie. Pure chutzpah.

Great list.
Mike Hale and I came up with our Best TV of 2025 lists and then a funny thing happened: The shows on my list started talking to each other. (giftie) www.nytimes.com/2025/12/04/a...

A friend has started her Mad Men rewatch & she’s mowing through it. She just got to Pete’s attempt to bring down Don & the brutality of Burt’s casual dismissal. God I love that scene. I believe my rewatch has begun.

I totally get this. I don’t begrudge anyone’s comfort food trash, but it’s crazy how after one good season that happened 10 years ago this thing is still so potent. Some weird shit.
uh oh, I'm getting wound up about Stranger Things, someone please close my laptop

I promise this will be my only political rant for a while. I’m done getting worked up over Schumer & Jeffries. It’s been obvious for a year they’ve had to go. Even if by some miracle the senate & the house get flipped by the natural laws of 2 party dissatisfaction, we’re still fucked. 1/

The lists are my fave time of year. I get to spend the next 2-3 months catching up on everything missed this year. W/ the exception of BSky, I’m not on social media anymore which has made finding new things super hard this year. ESPECIALLY music. Thanks to all the mofos posting cool culture shit.

One of my favorite things from this year has been Dedra Meero’s comeuppance. Her humiliation is brutal. Nothing beats an earned, exceptionally executed fall from grace.
