If Trump's seizure of Venezuela's oil is simply "diplomacy," so were Bonnie and Clyde's visits to banks.
Chris Wright on seized Venezuelan oil: "We've sold about $1 billion of oil so far. We've recently signed agreements to sell about another $5 billion in the next several months. So you're talking well north of $10 billion a year ... this is way out of the box, groundbreaking Trump diplomacy."

My theory of the moment: The extraordinary courage of ordinary people in places like Minneapolis is reawakening us to our social and economic ties to immigrants. It's making "love thy neighbor" cool again. That's the ultimate antidote to MAGA hate.

This is a fascinating NPR segment on how white supremacists/Trump use tools like the "Obamas as apes" video to make racism fun.

Also delves into the political power of humor and how it is used to create a bond between racists and to teach which groups can be degraded.

Trump shared a racist "joke." That humor is an American tradition : Code Switch
When President Trump shared a racist video on his Truth Social account last week, the blowback was real. But the video is also part of a tradition that has existed in the U.S. since the early 1800s — ...

Actually not that surprising.

The main reason Biden was elected was because he was seen as a decent, stable man. The anti-Trump if you will.

Now that Trump is wreaking havoc on the world it's very reasonable for people to look back at Biden's term as being preferable to the daily chaos we see now.
Whoa! Didn’t expect to wake up to this news.

“A year into Trump’s term, voters say Biden was better.”

Trump’s net approval on the economy is now -18. That’s 26 points worse than this point in his first term and a brutal 53 points lower among independents.

Can't put into words how much I enjoy this happily weird version of Tom Jones' It's Not Unusual.

The horn section is not what you expect, the vocalist has an odd charisma and the kiss off at the end is masterful.

If you want something that Is Unusual, this is it.

It's corny as hell but the solution to fascism is loving thy neighbor
This is all due to the incredible resistance of the people of Minnesota.

Their resilience - and their determination - helped enforce the Constitution in a way that political elites in Congress and the courts did not or could not.

I have never been prouder to be a Minnesotan.

Fascism is not an opinion, but a practice of oppression. It is not fought with neutrality, nor with hollow institutions that shelter it behind democratic display cases. Whether as “underground” Nazi groups or as parliamentary authoritarianism in a suit, fascism feeds on passivity and fear.
