@raskin.house.gov as a British citizen, thank you for what you said in the House today, exposing Nigel Farage and his malign intent. I'm very pleased to see real opposition gathering pace to the actions of the Trump administration. I look forward to being back in Maryland soon to visit family.

A M8.8 earthquake just ruptured the subduction zone offshore Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula. This is one of the world’s truly huge earthquakes, and a triggered tsunami is currently traveling across the Pacific ocean.

This same fault ruptured on July 20th in a M7.4, and last August in a M7.1.

This is a superb illustration of seismic waves travelling around the earth.
Watch the seismic waves from the magnitude 8.8 earthquake off the coast of Russia sweep beneath seismic stations in North America.

By the time the waves reached North America, they are far too small to be felt by people, but can still be detected by seismic instruments. 🧪

After 39 days of quiet, the clock resets.

At 5:14 p.m., a beige-gray column of ash punches skyward from Mount St. Helens—the first eruption visible in daylight since May 18.

Two more pulses follow at 6:25 and 7:01. At peak, ash tops 59,000 feet. It's a big show.

Public lands in the USA are the highlight for millions of domestic and foreign visitors. Is the aim to destroy the tourist industry as well as biodiversity?
Public lands are one of the few remaining great equalizers of America’s increasingly ultra-wealthy-centric economy. This would be the death knell for hunting and fishing access, for hiking, cycling, and other forms of rec. It would be a great betrayal of our obligation as stewards of that land
