Does anyone have any insights as to why labiodental trills are *not* greyed out in the IPA chart? Henton brings it up as an example of an impossible sound in a 1987 discussion paper that precedes the Greyboi™, but as far as I can tell it's never been greyed out.

I wrote some software that visualises real-time nasalance for our @phoneticslab.bsky.social public engagement event this week!

We use two microphones to capture oral and nasal signals, separated by a baffle, and map each signal's amplitude to a visual representation of the face!

Very exciting news for PraatSauce users! We've just pushed a new version which fully rewrites the code base, making things faster and simpler to use.
Instead of settings parameters in a bunch of Praat windows, you now set them in a spreadsheet file that looks like this

This year, I have received one review request each month from MDPI's Behavioral Sciences for papers that are at best marginally related to my field of research. How do I get them to STOP? 🥲

praatpicture v1.4.2 is now on CRAN 🍾 meaning that these highlighting options are now available at an R package store near you (and in the Shiny app!). No other major updates this time!
