I'm not entering the giveaway (I've already read Liar's Throne! It's great!), but I wanted to repost to say: Arwen.
💙📘 GIVEAWAY 📘💙

I'm giving out three free copies (via BookFunnel) of The Liar's Throne, my brand new fantasy book. All you gotta do is QRP answering this question:

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ELF EVER? (Astarion? Legolas? Keebler?)

I'll pick three replies at random tomorrow (Monday). #booksky

We are at risk of losing our PayPal account if we can't raise the rest of this money ASAP :( Please share and/or donate if you can.
Unfortunately, our bank had denied our attempt to recoup our losses and we will not be able to recover any of our stolen funds. This means this our only hope of paying any of our bills. Please help us recoup our losses. www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-g...

Always support fungus SFF! Consider following and supporting this Kickstarter!

I wrote a fungus SFF story a while back; it's available as a radio play, with a link to purchase the issue with the original story on the same page:

Just got my hold of Hamnet from the library! I'm not adding it to Adaptation Book Club for a lot of reasons, but they include:

a) My tbr is huge already without adding extra pressure to it
b) I need to feel like I can quit Hamnet if it's too sad for me to continue reading

I hate having to do this but I'm really strapped for money to buy food and with limited use of a not great kitchen could use some help with buying some shelf stable food in bulk to get us through to the 19th. Any help would (inc reposts) be appreciated.

I'm reading Liar's Throne and both things are absolutely true. Yes, it's super light. Yes, a character carries around a jawbone as a reminder of vengance. I love it.
it can be simultaneously true that this is one of my lightest-ever books and that even my lightest books will have a rotting corpse or six

I'm reading this right now, and Nina is such a menace in the best possible way. I love the whole crew in general so far (I'm about halfway through), but Nina's brand of chaos is an absolute delight.

Honestly, solid wins all around. Kokomo is the only one that sticks out to me, but that's more because it's a weird choice for kids, not because it's bad.
It's time to pick which generational cohort of kids had the best taste.

If you're a patron and you're wondering why you got a notification about this post, it's because I meant to talk about how I name characters in edits and I only remember when I was falling asleep last night. I added 300ish words! Enjoy!
Happy Halloween! Paying members of my Patreon get a treat: a rough draft of a ghost-zombie story, and a post about half as long again of potential ways I would change the story in successive edits. [ghost voice] oooooooooo www.patreon.com/posts/142542...

I was posting vaguely a couple weeks ago about newsletters that I was frustrated wouldn't leave Substack. Culture Study was one of them.

I have my problems with Patreon (like, why are they launching a specific newsletter area now when they've been destroying their text tools), but it's better!
Anne Helen Petersen’s Culture Study is moving to Patreon from Substack. It’s one of the platform’s most successful publications & a beneficiary of its six-figure development program.

This is bad for Substack.

(Why Patreon is a separate conversation.)

I'm seeing a lot of appreciation for Paranormal Activity 3 this Halloween season, and I'm happy about it. I did a watch of the early part of the franchise last year (like, through 4) and it was my clear favorite.
