Preorders help small presses and authors tremendously but that’s not why they’re important on a soul level. Preorders matter because they’re acts of faith. You trust the order will come through, the book will be good, which means something in this low-trust society we’re trapped in.

Doing a run through of Death in Paradise again. I love the DI quirks. DI Jack Mooney has a story for every case. I also appreciate that he wasn't compromised by potential romantic involvement. Funny that Ardal O'Hanlon played the daft priest on Father Ted.
