Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) created a path-dependence that no-one could predict...
Here's a downstream effect of the backlash against the power of the 2018-2022 global movement for decarbonization—a backlash, I believe, that was driven largely by the realization among LIBERAL elites (eg Gates) that CDR was too expensive and difficult to offset the continued use of fossil fuels.
The Post (me and @kcrowebasspro.bsky.social) analyzed the social media posts and appearances of prominent politicians across the country.

We found that no one is talking about climate change anymore. In 2025, mentions are 60% lower than in 2024.

What are the regional mid-term economic ripples of climate cascading shocks?

"Combined losses linked to climate change topped at least $1.4tn last year across 25 markets. After a serious extreme weather event, about 40% of small businesses in the affected area do not reopen and a further 25% close within a year of the catastrophe"

The article doesn't say it, but this cool solar forecasting software uses no large language models, the thing people usually think of when they hear "AI." It uses a fairly simple convolutional neural network that's readily trained on a laptop. No data centers or LLMs involved. Research paper here:

The NYTIMES seems to be engaging in climate misinformation, beware!
Good god, the New York Times DIDN'T fix it.

As a climate scientist just reminded me, temperature increase has NOT "curved downward over the past 10 years" as this revision claims.

In fact THE RATE OF INCREASE IN GLOBAL WARMING HAS GONE UP 😩

Climate crew!
Did you know a former White House climate advisor flipped a GOP stronghold in Virginia by running entirely on putting a stop to more AI data centers?

For @heatmap.news I profiled John McAuliff and a campaign that will be a roadmap for all future anti-AI politicians moving forward.
This Virginia Election Was a Warning for Data Centers
John McAuliff ran his campaign almost entirely on data centers — and won.

Techniques to reflect an additional small portion of sunlight back into space could help cool the planet if deployed globally, but they cannot address the full range of climate impacts or replace emission cuts, says our new briefing today: #ClimateChange royalsociety.org/news/2025/11...

Mamdani's win: a lesson in defeating short-term thinking and climate doom. This optimism is exactly what we need to finally tackle the fact that emissions are still rising.

For a few years, climate science denial seemed to have been replaced by “delay-ism” (“it’s real but not urgent”). Now, just as renewables start defeating fossils by being more cost-efficient, delay-ism morphs into defeatism: “it’s real, it’s urgent, but can’t be paid for”.
All three are propaganda.

A new neutral style of climate communication?

I’m heartbroken to learn that two New Yorkers have drowned as a result of today’s torrential rain and flooding. Their families and loved ones are in my thoughts tonight.
