As Government of #canada returns from winter break, and likely topic of sovereignty seems to on everyone's tongue these days, I am looking to hear more from Feds on the nowhere-topic of #CivilDefence.

Let's talk about building #resilience and #readiness through societal engagement. Lessons exist! ✊

How I sometimes feel about #cybersecurity when the physical environment/ threat get minimized!

Maybe I am just still recovering from the shitshow of Canada150 in #Ottawa, but I think that announcing this funding now, and having such a small window to come up with "event, activity or piece of public art" in a 1 month timespan seems ... a bit rushed! Or (cynically) late to the game??!!
🤞
Can you think of a way to celebrate Ottawa 200 through an event, activity or piece of public art?

We have two new #MyOttawa200 grant programs and one of them may be for you or your organization.

Disappointed in choice of guest on #CBC #OttawaMorning discussing federal gun buyback program.
Instead of having someone offer direct information and using interview to probe based on journalistic research, the guest begins by throwing uncertainty across each of their replies.

Maybe I am biased ☮️

I am pleased to announce that I have appointed myself Chair of the ’World ☮️ Board’ that will oversee all other ☮️ Boards (real and made-up 😉) and will require in-kind payments from Boards’ members to not be less than current UN fees which will then be turned over to the updated UN (minus SecCouncil)!

Now that the storm is over I would like to nominate for the “Idiot in #autowa Trophy” to the following: the Rolling Snowball!
White Civic that was entirely snow covered with no lights on during storm and after sunset, westbound 417 near #kanata unsure if signalled for lane change!
Nominations open!

@en.ottawa.ca plow your damned sidewalks downtown as people are struggling
#ottawa
January 15, 2026 at 8:53 PM
@en.ottawa.ca : although too late for this morning's joyful commute/ walk to work in the downtown, where I observed 2 persons wipe-out (like a full yard-sale wipe-out!) on the City of #ottawa sidewalks, maybe do a better job to keeping people safe by throwing a few handfuls of grit (sand!) around! 🤬

What a minute: I thought #canada was going to be the 51st State?

Is the US now trying to drive a wedge between us and #Greenland on which one IS to be the 51st State?

I am confused.
I think that they are making shit up as they go...rather than established thought-out policy!

/s
Rep. Randy Fine on his bill to make Greenland the 51st state: "We need to make sure we assert our dominance over the Western Hemisphere ... the last thing we need is Greenland to become another Venezuela where we have huge problems we have to deal with in the future."

For some all of the ills of today’s society stem from the “woke left” or “far left” (most omit the hyphen!).
Such is the language of division that is being spewed by those that are threatened by people that are meaningfully expressing opposition.
Better ‘woke’ than sleepwalking into oppression!

Tech is so cool and useful: I can click a link to get real-time status update for a large-appliance delivery.

Me: [clicks link] “oh this is useless!”

Just shoot me a text instead of wasting my time clicking a link for your stupid useless tracking app!

For those keeping score, Bellingcat, The New York Times Visual Investigation Team, & Washington Post's Visual Forensic team have all published analysis showing the ICE shooter wasn't in the path of Renee Nicole Good’s vehicle when he shot her, contradicting statements by the President & his cronies

Is it me (or my iPhone specifically) or is it using iPhone on @bsky.app web version that keyboard remains a frustrating user challenge? (How many times it took to write frustrating)
Keyboard predictive words: suck!
Keyboard predictive word selection: suck!
Keyboard interaction like backspace: suck!

With this morning’s crazy news of this situation (assuming legality is not a concern for this convicted felon!), I have been listening with vested interest in special segment on #CBC The House about #Finland and its national defence and civil #preparedness.

Really like late day #XCSkiing outings with crisp air and headlamp to light the way like today at #FitzroyPP with West Carleton Nordic (wcnordic.com).
Got ~8k in again before stupid freezing rain hits #ottawa and area.

Feel good enough to break out the skate skis next in #GatineauPark

Even though quite a few people may still be on vacation or workplaces on reduced-hour schedules, hoping that organizations in/ around #ottawa take steps to keep people safe and off the roads for the Sig Wx Event as per @en.ottawa.ca !

Hey #ottawa : lets see how prepared the City is to handle a wee bit of snow tomorrow, with an eye on the various comments of the benefits to having employees returning full-time into in-person office work for the downtown businesses.
How quickly will sidewalks get cleared?
Will #ottLRT be solid?

Everyone here that lives in/ around #ottawa should take the minute or so to read this thoughtful retort to 'Tim'.

As a "reliable yes-man for every budget", Tim owns the impacts of these noted issues, yet, is good to point the finger at others.

#ottpoli is alive and well.
Councillor Tim Tierney is wrong about ‘Chronic No-Voters’ in his Ottawa Citizen Op/Ed on Saturday.
His opinion would be easier to take seriously if the comments weren’t coming from someone with a 15-year track record of being a reliable yes-man for every budget. 1/21

Here, supplier has totally transferred #BusinessContinuity risk onto its customers!
