If you believe either that Franklin discovered the double helix, and / or Watson and Crick stole her data, ask yourself how you know this. Then take a read of this article.
If I see one more stupid Rosalind Franklin take I'm going to lose my mind. Thank god for @matthewcobb.bsky.social and @nccomfort.bsky.social. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
What Rosalind Franklin truly contributed to the discovery of DNA’s structure
Franklin was no victim in how the DNA double helix was solved. An overlooked letter and an unpublished news article, both written in 1953, reveal that she was an equal player.

It is fall break here. I asked for volunteers who happened to be on campus to test my idea for making a giant string-art cardioid. It worked pretty well, and I have some concrete ideas for improvement in version 2.0. (This circle has about a 20 ft. circumference and 239 holes.)

So much this (the "but" part).
New analysis of a 1-million yr old fossil skull captured worldwide media attention this week, with many headlines saying it requires a complete rewrite/rethink of human evolution. This is an intriguing study & it's brilliant to see so much public enthusiasm for deciphering our origins, but....1/n 🧪

This is a really lovely overview of nonstandard analysis. Might make most sense to people who have a vague idea about them anyway, but definitely worth a look even if you don't.
Please enjoy this excerpt from my book Lectures on the Philosophy of Mathematics on the topic of infinitesimals revisted, exploring diverse issues in nonstandard analysis. www.infinitelymore.xyz/p/infinitesi... #InfinitelyMore #PhilMaths

#HoagieHomies alert.
The notion that the sandwich was invented in the 17th century has to be history’s biggest psyop. You’re telling me that for the first 30,000 years of bread’s existence , no-one was like ‘Huh, check this out - I put stuff between the breads!’? Nope. Not having it.
