This is in reference to the unjust firing of Melissa McCool, but it’s true of every right-wing harassment campaign

Universities and elite media need to be aware of this
It did not "go viral". It was intentionally filmed and disseminated using a network of coordinated bots, amplified by an algorithm designed to spread this kind of content quickly. This was a harassment campaign, intended to silence everyone. Call it what it is.

Wow. WTAF, the Atlantic? Seriously?

And it goes without saying but American media is perfectly capable of looking "silly" without Canada's help.
The Atlantic suggesting, without evidence, that Canada's Global TV broadcasting the '60 Minutes' segment on CECOT that CBS distributed to it may have been an act of "treachery."

It's a travesty that Bari Weiss (or David Ellison, or Trump) censored this report on CECOT, forcing Americans to watch bootleg Canadian versions of 60 Minutes to find out what our own government is doing.
!! Here’s a link to full video of the 60 Minutes segment that Bari Weiss killed last minute, via @jasonparis.bsky.social:

(It was uploaded to the Global TV app in Canada, seemingly by accident, and has now been taken down)

I lost my job for defending diverse books.

Last week, the Supreme Court refused to hear Little v. Llano County, leaving readers in parts of the country without real protection when books are removed from libraries.

This is not theoretical. #TLSky #libraries

Officials in Tennessee aren't just banning books, they're now demanding information on who checked out contested (largely LGBTQ+) books, including names, addresses, and "household composition."

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

One of these refugee slots belonged to a friend of mine and her child. My She had been interviewed, screened, medically checked and approved to travel to the US. She was waiting for flight dates when Trump was inaugurated- and it was all cancelled. She has been a refugee for 19 years.
Some news on Trump's doling out of most refugee slots to white South Africans: Two former State Department officials tell us basic protocols designed to determine whether this group actually merits protection have simply been scrapped. It's just whim.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

I first heard about Greenville from a parent who emailed me when the library wouldn't let her child check out my picture book. My alphabet book, which they now have shelved in the 18+ section because it includes....you guessed it, families like mine. So upsetting to see another library follow suit.
TOMORROW, York County's board is discussing the new collection policy, which is almost stolen word for word from Greenville's. Greenville's library is currently being sued by the state ACLU for how discriminatory the policy is: bookriot.com/greenville-s...
