People don’t understand that stripping the guardrails of regulation and oversight doesn’t just apply to like better business bureau type shit but also like on a practical level when I get into an elevator I expect that it has passed a safety inspection & that type of security will be gone soon

I’m observing this a little from the other end- I am a mature (mid thirties) grad student. Some of my younger classmates are struggling, and sometimes *I* am struggling with things I used to do pretty seamlessly.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I started some transition aspects several years ago as we started trying for kids, then started hormones about a year ago just before the last kid we're planning for was born. That's a lot on so many levels, but the crossfade of trans depersonalization to new mother depersonalization is rough.

☝️ Something I should remember. Sorting out transition feelings is hard, and there's a lot of negative pressure from outside my own sense of self (special shout out to how annoying voice training is).

I just realized that "good enough" is not really an intentional option in my head except as a highly calibrated efficiency setting.
