I remember pitching my second book to an agent when they put out a call for black writers.
When they found out I was doing a fantasy piece they rejected it since they wanted something 'reflective of my lived experiences.'
Can't say I was surprised it was always about how to monetize the moment.

this is also a big part of the animation purge in LA that goes unacknowledged. so much young black talent has been out of work since many were new and in entry level jobs. some moved back home. I am often the only one or two in a production now. sad to see the attention and respect is conditional
