A year later, we are again seeing destructive, costly climate events that motivate the BC Greens to redouble our efforts on climate action. Abbotsford and Pemberton are on red & orange alerts for rainfall and potential flooding today and tomorrow. We will monitor closely and update on this channel.

The Fraser Valley and Sumas Prairie rivers are expected to continue to rise due to an increase in rain.

People should be aware, have a plan and take steps to prepare for potential impacts.

Because of a risk of flooding, avoid travel in the Fraser Valley unless necessary until the atmospheric river passes and water levels subside. Highway 1 and other provincial roadways could close with little or no notice. Follow DriveBC.ca for the latest info. #BCFlood

David Eby was Attorney General when DRIPA passed *unanimously* in 2019… Now, Eby is spinelessly bending to Cons’ misinformation machine with snap-judgement. This province is stronger when everyone is at the table, and that’s why the BC Greens will fight to uphold Indigenous rights and title. #bcpoli

The ink is hardly dry on this court decision, and yet the folks who unanimously passed the Declaration Act are already threatening to repeal or amend it. How is that good government?

By directing resources toward involuntary treatment, they are diverting funding away from evidence-based voluntary services that actually help people.

If the goal of this government is to end uncertainty for those struggling with mental health and addictions issues, then it is failing.

Involuntary treatment is a slippery slope — legally, ethically, and clinically.

Even the Health Minister acknowledged that questions remain about whether this practice is constitutional.

Canada has already faced this kind of deception before with tobacco and prescription opioids. When tobacco advertising was restricted, its use went down, and companies were ultimately held financially responsible. Fossil fuel companies should be held to the same standard.

With any changes to a system so complex and consequential, you need a clear plan. The amendments under Bill 32 have been pulled together hastily, with minimal consultation and conflicting explanations of its intent.
The BC Greens call on the Province to stand down Bill 32 until the Ministry of Health conducts proper consultation, can clearly demonstrate how this bill impacts the administration of involuntary treatment, and how it is intended to protect health care workers.

Virtual group medical visits have been successful at helping many in rural remote communities, or those who are bed- or home-bound. It's efficient, cost effective, and saves the health system money.

But this care model might be curtailed on Jan 1.
