This morning, MLAs from all parties gathered to recognize the National Day of Mourning, honoring workers who have died, were injured or became ill as a result of their job. We came together with heavy hearts, thinking about all those affected by this weekend's tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Festival.

In response to tariff threats, this govt has promised a wave of new mines, fossil fuel infrastructure, and clean energy projects, all with faster review processes. But the 2025 Budget didn’t include new funding for environmental assessments, public consultations, or Indigenous title negotiations.

With tariff threats and economic uncertainty, some will say we cannot afford to make the investments necessary to transform our economy. I say no. In times of adversity, we cannot afford to ignore creative solutions.
