More than two decades ago, I stood on a platform under Niagara Falls. The spray was more drenching than any rain, the sound so loud I could feel it in my bones, and the majesty of the experience literally changed how I felt about the Earth.

Tbh, I don’t consider police unions to actually be unions. They’re more like guilds or fraternal orders or straight up gangs. Unions use numbers to give people leverage over those with more institutional power. Police unions simply *consolidate* institutional power for those who already have it.
