🚨ASK YOUR UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN TO TURN OFF AI SUMMARIES ON PROQUEST🚨
It's at platform level, so libraries were given the choice about whether they want it on or off. We can either toggle it on and off ourselves through the admin platform or ask the supplier to do it for us, but it's for *everyone* not just individual accounts. First stop would be the your librarian!

Although the chapter on Diet and Nutrition in the Roman Republican Army by Jeremy Armstrong is gloriously open access (but not the rest of the book)

Also may be handy to throw a look at the recent J.F. Donahue and L.L. Brice, Brill's Companion to Diet and Logistics in Greek and Roman Warfare (2023); some of the chapters may be useful.

Alas, my contributor copy is a hard-copy and the book is Brill-priced.

We set out to describe the strain on scientific publishing. Reviewers are overworked, editors are mass-resigning, we can't keep this up. What we need are good stewards of science.

Find them with our data explorer. ImpInf on most journals, and TATs on many: bit.ly/StrainWeb

And the employment data supports this.
One of the worst effects of successive govts' rhetoric on Higher Ed is that it's 'training for a job'. So 18yos get themselves (and are pressured) onto narrow technical courses. Yet employers are crying out for ppl who can read, think, write, speak! I've never met an employer who said different.

Love to see a university leaning hard on the expertise of their own faculty in such a pivotal moment.
More of this please.

Universities benefit everybody when they tailor their activities for disadvantaged people, according to an Australian disability advocate, who says inclusivity can also help rebuild the sector’s social licence

Tailoring teaching for disabled students ‘can benefit everyone’

Hey #Auspol, you heard about all those #NDIS eligibility letters, right?

Where else have we seen vague government letters fishing for vague information in a way that sets recipients up for an adverse outcome in the last decade? 👀
