These days I’m really struggling with not being an Afro-pessimist.

It is HARD

You, me & us.

In the face of what’s to come, what’s already here, we can choose to construct connections that fortify us all. Rooted bonds with a vast opportunity to not only weather the storm but to steer us through uncertainty.

The Smith family owns 600 acres of land, which has been passed down since the 1920s. A superior court judge recently ruled that a railroad company could seize their property.

They are now appealing the decision to the Georgia Supreme Court.

Every Drake felt that. Former Detroit Red Wing Dallas Drake. Drake from Drake & Josh. 16th century explorer Sir Francis Drake. Drake Mallard, the mild-mannered alter ego of Darkwing Duck. Mandrake the Magician. That sh*t was like Order 66 for Drakes.

Like flushed cheeks and beaded brow.

Octavia Butler is not a magical negro. It doesn't take much for oppressed people to "predict" the fallout of white supremacy.
Cannot stop thinking about how Octavia Butler wrote a book in 1993 about climate change. It opens with deadly fires in LA in 2025. In the story, a fascist President has just won office with the campaign slogan "Make America Great Again."

She was a modern day Nostradamus. If only we'd listened.
