I block irrationally and far too quickly. Believe me - it’s not you, it’s me. (Well… it’s very occasionally you, but you shouldn’t have been awful.)

Some individuals impact lives like meteorites. You don't need to meet them or know them to be moved by them, to be inspired by them, to be sad when they are gone because they made you happy when they were here.

The Cut Throat Trial by @barristersecret.bsky.social is a superb legal thriller. I loved the drip feed approach by using the perspectives of different actors in the trial. It manages to be pacy, gripping, shocking, and yet, truly believable.
I’ve been recommending it to everyone.

Which is why the Govt could try blaming the boats on Farage… but god forbid they say that Brexit isn’t marvellous.

Which means I can’t now help but riff on how our current government would respond if Reform said something similar. So let’s imagine. 🧵

Retrospectively removing indefinite leave to remain would be immoral and economically damaging. It would tear families apart.
Attacking it as ‘potentially illegal’ is completely beside the point.
Argue with the (awful) idea. Don’t try ’well, actually you can’t do that’.

Rapidly coming to the conclusion that everyone needs to spend a lot less time on the internet – EXCEPT journalists and cops, who evidently need to spend far more time online.

Bit of a paradox that it takes a US Democrat to challenge Farage, whereas UK Labour does a decaf tribute act for him
Democrat @raskin.house.gov excoriates Nigel Farage for banning journalists from Reform UK events:
"I'm asking you a direct question. Why do you ban journalists who oppose your views from coming to your events? Why did you tell local government not to do interviews with your local newspaper?"

I am a liberal. I do, on principal, support the Assisted Dying Bill. However, having had the privilege to know, and discuss it with, a (leftie, progressive) geriatrician, I’m not so hardline on it. So it saddens me to see that commentary has gone down the tribal route.
