I block irrationally and far too quickly. Believe me - it’s not you, it’s me. (Well… it’s very occasionally you, but you shouldn’t have been awful.)
Oh no, I agree, it’s ludicrous and infuriating.

But I also don’t want to see a govt getting involved with the running of the public broadcaster outside its remit.

Change the leadership or anything. The charter renewal is in 31 Dec 2027.

Because they couldn’t do it until the charter renewal.

Most Brits I know do no such thing.

See how my anecdata is as helpful as yours. Except I don’t use mine to negatively stereotype a group of tens of millions of people.

Our cat is deaf and doesn’t actually know how loud she is.

“Getting through fancy-pants earplugs” loud is what she is.

He’s been tipped the wink and told to say that to wake the viewing public up.

Also the audiobook is excellent - it’s a full cast and is very much like listening to a play. Great work!

A lot more easily than you milk magnesia, I’d wager.

Poor old Glamorgan Sausages.

Well let me know when we’re not allowed to use “coconut milk” anymore.

They can’t just say xxx impeded me, can they? So damn childish. And what? Are they out for vengeance now?
October 4, 2025 at 2:29 PM
Because it’ll be electorally toxic.

Have you not heard of perfectly normal people saving up to go private because they can’t wait in pain any longer? Or without that diagnosis, etc?

It can’t be done unless the NHS can properly fill the gap.

A petition is not a poll.

That’s why I’d like to see the full proposal following consultation.

This govt have been playing to the anti-migrant crowd for a long time and they’re doing it again. The chosen marketing doesn’t necessarily express all (any of) the “product’s” benefits or intended applications.
September 26, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Aren’t the public pretty supportive of it? Overall?
September 26, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Labour comms in general is amateur hour.
September 26, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Then what on earth are you worried about? Your stasi on the M6 scenario is light years away if it ever does happen. Happy days!
September 26, 2025 at 6:38 PM
It’s not a total mess. There’ll be a consultation and it’ll be properly considered and articulated.

Then we’ll have something definite to talk about and form opinions on.

I fail to see how we’re exceptional and can’t do what many countries do. So I’m approaching it with an open mind.
September 26, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Can we not just wait for the consultation?

Other countries manage it… perhaps we could have even a discussion?

Not just those who changed jobs. I’ve been with my company for nearly two decades and they asked us (relatively recently) for proof of right to work (in a fairly tactless way, causing stress in more than a few people).
