It’s been a busy Easter break but have managed to get my MBA dissertation to the 13,000 word mark. An introduction, conclusion and a few rounds of editing left ahead of the deadline next month.

Looking forward to sharing my findings!

Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

One of the areas I’m exploring for my MBA dissertation is the barriers to LGBT+ teachers applying for leadership roles.

If you’re a LGBT+ teacher who’s willing to take part in the research, you can get a link to the anonymous 5-10 minute survey by emailing 2409515@buckingham.ac.uk .

Really enjoyed working with one of our sixth formers this past week to deliver a lecture to staff and students on LGBT+ language over time as part of @lgbthm.bsky.social

Thanks to @paulari.bsky.social for helping out with one of the links!

Does anyone have a copy/link to the @owainwynevans.bsky.social Polari weather report from a few years back?

A student and I are doing a @lgbthm.bsky.social lecture on queer language over time and am trying to avoid using the bird app.

@paulari.bsky.social I don’t suppose you can help?

This survey on the experiences of LGBT+ teachers and leaders closes on Sunday!

Email 2409515@buckingham.ac.uk for a link to the 5-10 minute survey to be part of the research.
There are still a couple of weeks to contribute to this research on LGBT+ teachers with leadership responsibilities.

Not as high as previous years, but 37 books in 2024 wasn’t a bad total.

Glad that this has landed early! Looks like I’ll have some time to read over the break and use it to help my MBA research prep 😊

Trying to build up reading habits and a culture of reading where students aren’t just doing it because they ‘have to’ is feeling like a Sisyphean task…

Any top tips? Or secondaries doing it successfully that might be worth a visit? #TeamEnglish #EduSky

Well it was a good night’s sleep… just an earlier get-up than planned 😂
✅ Suits cleaned

✅ Shoes polished

✅ Shirts ironed

✅ Bag packed

Do we think I can add a good night’s sleep to the list before being back at school tomorrow? 😂

Lightning teacher tip: pretty much any time you ask a question, make sure the name is at the end. Critical for building Participation Ratio, but a surprisingly hard habit to get into.

After the @teachertapp.bsky.social survey on boy-girl seating arrangements, I’m curious- where they are used, where do you seat non-binary kids?
