Depicted a lived-in space through tactile cel is a challenge, because that's the type of skill that animators are no longer really prepared for. Ikoku Nikki not only clears that with the delightful mess, but even manages to make it feel like one very specific (very messy, one of us) person's life

Knew Ikoku Nikki was going to be good because the source material rules and the staff's good, but goddamn what an amazing first episode. So far brilliant structure to bypass pacing issues, direction that really understands the core of the series, and waaaay better animation than it'll get credit for

This year I want to get back a sense of joy and good vibes and some kind of creative spark… and be a little more social. connect with friends and stuff. :’) last year especially in the last half I super got into hermiting and not wanting to do much of anything. changing that would be good.
