Ok, I think I have solved bright overhead lighting for most of the basement.

But I also wanted warmer wall lighting for evenings when you want less brightness. Can I find anything that works for me? No, no I cannot.

Something in the passage from Haggai caught my eye this week, so let's take a look at that. I think we probably need to go back to chapter 1 to see the context here. We appear to be hearing about those who returned to the promised land after the Babylonian exile. They're ruled not by their own king but by a governor who reports to their colonizers and they have come back to a place that needed a lot of work.

I haven't done interactions in a while. Here's interactions.

My code is convinced that the first day of May is the 6th and the last day is the 27th.

This seems wrong.

Mmmm.

Now I want a sandwich.

So let's talk about the bike valet.

I have very rarely used the service and I still think it's a hugely important program.

It's a safe bike parking option. But it does so much more in terms of placemaking and community building.
November 6, 2025 at 6:34 PM
I say, let's just pay some more taxes to keep having these great programs.
#yyj #yyjBike
The City of #Victoria staff have released their 2026-2030 Draft Financial Plan. It seems that in order to comply with Council’s direction to keep property tax increases to 4% or less, staff are recommending axing the bike valet and Youth Bus Pass programs?? And hoping the CRD will pick up the tab???

Oops. Had too many opinions today. Now I feel like failure.

So... The new office layout sucks.

They should assign offices based on volume rather than seniority.

My kid and his friends (13) are working on a video game. They've got big plans.

They're looking ahead and worrying that they don't know how to do sound. I don't know how to advise them.

Anyone want to give advice about recording or editing or digitally generating sounds for games?

A house near me put up what looked a lot like Christmas decorations alongside their Halloween decorations. Lots of candy striped stuff in bright colors.

And then on the weekend, they took most of them down when they took down their Halloween decorations.

Does this make sense to anyone?

I'd like to be able to mute specific words from specific people.

Some of you are great. Except when you're not.

Oooh.

I get to make a list of the pros and cons for abandoning my least favourite piece of software! (The one that costs 5 figures and has absurd bugs in it given that it costs 5 figures.)

The Tax Collector
So last week, we read the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, contrasting their prayers in the temple and this week, we see a tax collector interacting with Jesus. In the biblical text between here and there, we have also seen the anecdote about the man sometimes identified as the "rich young ruler" interacting with Jesus. None of these passages are exactly next to the others, but they're all within a chapter or so and they do seem to be thematically related.

Ugh.

I hate standard time. Standard time is horrible.

Hmm...
Mine looks different.

Oh.

Maybe this is a nice case study.

Paul is misreading the Torment Nexus tweet exactly like the Torment Nexus tweet observes people often misinterpreting scifi
paul, this is a tweet about silicon valley failing to recognize scifi as being social critique and assuming they were prescriptions for what future society should look like rather than amplifications of social issues present at time of writing.

hope this helps!
"Torment Nexus" comes from this tweet and is often used now to describe the kind of negative experiences you can have with social networks, like getting dogpiled or harassed or being pushed into conflict

It's raining steadily, so I don't know if many kids will come by, but my treat bowl is ready and my jack-o-lanterns are lighting the way.

Hmmm.

Looks like they're not clawing back our vacation because we were on strike.

So I still need to use 10ish days before the end of the year.

Looks like this will be the last weekend with only 2 days for me this year!

So my workplace has forced us all to move desks, the desks in the new area have monitor arms that adjusted.... Some? Almost enough?

But I'm here 35 hours a week. Almost wasn't good enough. Additional adjustments seemed possible, but not obvious how to do them.

This is...

Well you can definitely tell it's AI.
AI sitcom accidentally a Lynchian fever dream. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and insane lament.
