Yeah side quests start giving exp starting from 3, and dungeon events also do that starting from 5

Honestly I just wish there were more ways to get Exp in these games outside of battles (even if it was just getting candies from side quests) so I could use more defensive or support Pokémon without feeling like I'm passively going through the motions

It feels good to be rewarded for your planning and effort! It also creates interesting scenarios when you decide to get by without grinding!

Like, my experience with SwSh and BDSP was mostly being worried about overleveling my mons if I got slightly off the beaten path

Anyway this is a problem with JRPG discourse in general where people will talk about ways to skip the grind instead of how to make the grind more fun

I wouldn't say I'm an Exp Share hater per se but I don't think there has been a single that balanced it well
(except for maybe ZA because you gotta level up exponentially faster there)

I forgot how good it feels to draw with a ballpoint pen. Just loose enough that I can doodle without compromise but not being able to erase any mistakes
