Despite my nitpicking, I did really enjoy our time in Atlasia! Very much looking forward to more installments in the story, and will happily play whatever Cowcat puts out next.

Favorite case was the lab. Accidentally short-circuited it the first time, but immediately went back to do it the right way and really enjoyed the depth.
100% co-op was unexpected, but fun!

Extra disappointment that Brawl Bar focused on expanding supplemental lore rather than addressing the many mysteries of the main plot, but that’s at least clear early on. Still fun, though (if a little jank at times)!
Loved the in-game fan art galleries. Happy that SFW gay fanart was included too!

The violent path in particular was a bit off. There were moments of brilliance when the violence felt “explained,” but the perpetrators apologized too much before the breaking point, so it ended up feeling kind of slapstick instead.

Why “Drumer/Slumer” when they are pronounced “Drummer/Slummer”? 😭
Collecting all the endings in InvestiGator was mandatory, IMO, but also a bit disappointing. We saved the canonical ending and bonus scenes for last, thinking there might be some big cool reveal, but it was mostly sequel cliffhanger.

Why “Drumer/Slumer” when they are pronounced “Drummer/Slummer”? 😭

Some of the more emotional moments come off a little contrived and rooted in misunderstanding/miscommunication, which is one of my least favorite narrative tropes.
Another pet peeve: the fantasy racism was also underbaked. Nods to “they aren’t all bad,” but no real effort spent proving it.

For games that rely so heavily on writing, there are so many errors and slightly-off turns of phrase in the English script that it’s a bit distracting. It also felt like the voice actors were reading many lines without context. Really needed one last editing pass to clean up some of those mistakes.

Finally played through all the Brok games: Natal Tail -> InvestiGator -> Brawl Bar. Got all endings and most achievements.
Really impressive games, especially for a solo dev. Inspiring, even! Love the characters/setting.

I know people complained about the intro being long, but I always thought that was part of the charm. It’s a series of creepy slow-burn mysteries.
The combat and class system was the real weak part of the game, yet somehow I’m guessing that’s largely unchanged…

Modern English Dragon Quest isn’t really archaic/“ye olde”… It’s just various british isles regional accents, isn’t it? I used to dislike it pre-voice acting, but I don’t mind it that much now. They even do this cute thing where every village often has its own dialect, which I find kinda’ charming.
