Also: the elaborate ‘you don’t need to thank friends’ is a ritual, almost code in India & you do need to perform it by saying thanks 🙄. Also also: you say ‘sorry’ when you bump into someone/they bump into you. if you needed to have a life in the uk test, that’s what should be on it.

The casteism & classism is so clear in this puerile piece - of course you don’t think you should thank deliveroo drivers or bus drivers or maids. ‘Why would you thank someone for doing their (‘menial’) job’ is caste in action.
What a dessicated, unkind, bourgeois, transactional, piece of shit opinion this is. Yes I thank everyone who does something for me (driving me on a bus, serving me at a cafe etc) even if they are getting paid. It is a recognition of their labour.

Do NOT use an app to track your hormones
“Now the march of wearable tech is coming to the aid of what some say is a long underserved market: menopausal women.”

“Companies are developing everything from apps offering dietary advice to devices that track symptoms, hormones and body temperature.”

The Trump administration is extending the Global Gag Rule beyond abortion to include “diversity, equity and inclusion” and “gender ideology" - just how broadly this will be interpreted is unknown but it will further expose and heighten violence towards trans & LGTBQI folks globally.

anyone else have weird explicit/harrass-y e-mails sent to their work e-mail that feels like a sort of social engineering scam but also worried it's something more sinister? (yes, i've reported it to work already...)

Apparently they toyed with it being a musical; it didn’t work but kept the tunes... I don’t think Boss is quite right for the tone & their song picks are questionable (honestly, the use of ‘I’m on Fire’ is a baffling choice). If you wanted a bit sillier/a musical... go O’Brother, Where Art Thou?

we saw & struggled with it- not only did it miss the political beats, it was very confused about what its message was & what it was attempting to say in this particular political moment. &, I LOVE Springsteen but it just didn’t work here (& like they didn’t understand his music either). Just a mess.
This is a generous review of a very silly play. The film is about McCarthyism and social coercion, written by someone whose allies fled when the authorities turned on him. To stage that story and play down its political elements is horribly misjudged.

The Morning Show star is persuasive in the role immortalised by Gary Cooper in the 1952 film, but did it really need to be remade for the stage?

Perhaps (critical) demographers would also like to weigh in, as experts in population studies (!), on the populationism nonsense of Greenwashed?
1. This short thread is about what I see as a serious breach of journalistic ethics, in the making of Sofia Pineda Ochoa’s online documentary Greenwashed. She interviewed me for the film, but neither before, during or after was I given any idea I would be its target. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjWU...

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

@thebodyserve.bsky.social were fantastic and on point in the ‘I said no’ episode- not just on how anti-trans & deeply problematic the stupid Sabalenka/Kyrgios thing is, but ALSO for the deep cut on early tennis twitter & the BS of now big-name tennis ‘journos’. Never forget.

(Yes, it’s a scene that uses ‘Baar baar dekho’ - and while it isn’t a subtle nod to the themes, it’s quite effectively and menacingly done)

I’m watching Khauf (the sound on this is so terrifying- and that gnawing horror is well paced so far) & there’s not much to laugh at but it’s hilarious that ‘taalein ho’ (clap!) is translated as ‘tally ho’ 😂😂😂
