"It's been an unusual adventure for Novak to get to this point"

I did not give Patrick Mouratoglou credit for one point of Serena's success and his main crime was being a complete dickhead
We are not obligated to give any credit to that man in Elena's box at all
Any success she has is in spite of him, she overcomes him

60% - Elena Rybakina (60.0%, 9-6) now holds the highest winning percentage against the WTA #1 since the rankings were first published in 1975 - minimum 10 meetings. Unreal.

Neither player was consistently near their best, but the shot-making was intense and the drama was high. Made for a cracking final, especially with the wild shifts in momentum

Delighted for Rybakina. This and the WTA Finals make it feel like she's properly back now #AusOpen

If there's anyone researching rapid aging, I'm the perfect test subject. Jumped a full decade today in these (almost) 10 sets.

Okay, just one short, delicious little schadenfreude

Alcaraz you beauty, you magical being, go win the thing now

Putting down a young woman because of the older man who's been accused of abusing her is real "why doesn't she just leave" stuff
Everyone in Australia and tennis turned on Jelena Dokic when she defended her dad and that just exacerbated her isolation

Tough call.

Aryna clearly alters her grunt (thinking the ball is going out) but it bounces in. She’s quiet when Svitolina hits the ball though. As a club player I see this every week and we play on but at the peak of the sport…

Extreme defence to devastating attack in 3 seconds. I love Svitolina 2.0

Great get – Svitolina enjoyed that one

I wonder how these white American tennis players (and Ben Shelton) view Coco Gauff speaking her truth on questions they treat as mere distractions or gotcha questions

She's 21 and has more backbone than all of them combined

Musetti’s team really went through it here… Coach went back home after losing his mother. Then physio landed in hospital. Lorenzo’s injury being obviously the least concerning of the three but it’s the accumulation here.

Anisimova: "Obviously I'm very grateful for the life that I have, the career I have. But you kind of lose your mind after matches like this. I think that after a day like today, I'm gonna completely lose all sense of rationality for like 48 hours."

Woke up early, checked the scores, saw Musetti was up a set.

That's nice, I thought. I don't trust it one bit. Snoozed on.

Woke up later: up two sets. That's also nice, I thought. Still don't trust it even slightly. But I'll watch it now.

I have been saying. Aryna smashing her racquet, Coco smashing her racket, zooming in on Iga crying during her cooling down routine…players need an area where they can decompress privately. not everything needs to be filmed and we are not entitled to seeing everything either. this isn’t big brother.
After her quarterfinal loss, Coco Gauff has suggested “conversations” should be held on player privacy at the Australian Open after she smashed a racket in a place she thought was private — and saw it broadcast to the world.
