An example for a social tipping point is offering vegetarian/vegan food only during scientific meetings - „it almost becomes unacceptable to provide meat at conferences“ - quote Marten Scheffer during the #GTPConference

The amazing Larissa Van der Laan created this wonderful piece based on my abstract that I submitted to the #GTPConference. It perfectly captures threatened deep sea ecosystems and cold water coral reefs through gradual and abrupt global change that I describe in ESMs.

How would a lifeless ocean effect future carbon uptake and storage? Turns out: biology matters for shaping the course of climate change! Great paper led by Jerry Tjiputra and summarized in this Carbon Brief guest post 🌊

We're excited about finally getting this one out in discussion. METEOR is a lightning fast time-evolving spatial pattern response model which can emulate any CMIP model, representing separate slow and fast climate responses to different climate forcers.

Interested in regime shifts in marine ecosystems? Check out our manuscript currently in review in Ocean Science on a method to quantify regime shift likelihood in multiple species across trophic levels. We use plankton recorder data collected in the North Sea for model validation.
