Russia's war effort is unsustainable. That's an overarching, sometimes underrated, fact of the war.

Economy strained beyond capacity, and signs of growing problems.

Doesn't mean it's about to collapse. Doesn't mean we know when it'll break. But enough time failing to conquer Ukraine, and it will.
“Russia’s economy hasn’t collapsed. It has entered the “death zone”—surviving by consuming its own future. Growth at 1%. Budget deficit rising. Military sector expands while civilian industry shrinks. Interest payments > education + healthcare. No climber survives this altitude forever.”

As pathetic as some certain Democratic governors are, they should all take a modicum of joy in being not as pathetic as Benny Gantz

This will be a significant part of the discourse in 2028 whether people like it or not and I seriously think that Democrats should figure out before then what their general consensus on this issue should be. Not sure that's possible but maybe "no more *free and unconditional* weapons" is a start.

If Israel wants to do that primarily by withdrawing its sovereignty over millions of Palestinians in a real way, that is an acceptable outcome, as is making everyone within its sovereignty a citizen with equal rights. But it can't do neither.

I think Israel should be a state that accords equal treatment under the law for everyone over whom it exercises sovereignty, and the fact that it is not is an enormous crime that should face overwhelming international pressure to resolve.

And to be clear, this also goes for people who have decided that Israeli Jews' lives are meaningless and anything must be tolerated in the name of Palestinian liberation. Congrats! Welcome to being a Zionist in 1947.

Parts of the Palestinian activist movement in the US have unfortunately been overtaken by campist politics that have utilized Palestine for broader ideological projects. This is the co-founder of Palestine Action US. (1)

Even VdL praised Boyko as EPP rule at its purest. Every state a little Bavarian CSU fief. The Grand Dream from the very top

Right now, getting Hungary or Serbia to where Romania or Bulgaria are, as bad as matters are there, would already be a heck of an improvement

Expecting a post-Fidesz system to turn Hungary into Norway overnight is unrealistic about what is happening in Hungary. Same goes for post-Vucic Serbia. The best that can be hoped for is a renegotiated system under Magyar or post-Vucic with new rules of the game that give space for change

You don't get value of private enterprise (and professional foreign capital ones especially) until you lived next to a giant commie plant in which all the town worked at. Basic societal degeneration at the most basic level

Donbas but it might as well be Uricani, Vulcani, Petrila, Aninoasa...etc

I have lived and seen all this with my own eyes in the grand industrial giants and the surrounding mines. The former communist leadership ran pyramid-monopolist schemes while the average worker looted the wiring in the walls

I saw chicken hoops built from metal of the buildings

The GCC/Jordan themselves, the only Arab forces that matter, will not want an Islamist hellhole blackmailing them on the int scene

The West Bank is getting annexed by stages in the next generations. 50-75% of Arabs there will likely eventually get Israeli citizenship

Its amazing how Jolani did a better job at cleaning his image and serving his cause in 3-5 years, than the Palestinians did in 60+ years

Nobody wants to admit it but there is no power on this earth that will accept a Palestinian state in the WB, where Hamas polls double digit support above Gaza

You could spin Munich and the bombings of the 2nd Intifada as tactical choices made by a weaker party seeking political leverage. We certainly were open to working with the ANC and IRA despite their use of terrorism as a tactic. October 7th was the first time we saw flat out ISIS like behavior.

I think you are massively underrating just how utterly and completely done pretty much every institutional force within the US government is with the Palestinian cause after October 7th.

There is a massive distinction between "we want the bombing to stop" and sacrificing political capital.
