I told him I could do it but @daphnek.bsky.social would be better.

Exceptional, important, and well worth the watch. Come for the defense of free speech and stay for the turtle.
Great great great @joshjohnsoncomedy.bsky.social on the whole Kimmel thing and the importance of fighting for free speech.

I will note that even though the first 30 minutes don't seem to be about Kimmel, they're (1) hilarious and (2) set up the Kimmel stuff... www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tYd...

The average American simply has no idea how quickly the infrastructure that keeps us safe and healthy is collapsing. These systems run in the background thanks to government employees who quietly do critical work. Those employees are being purged and systems are being destroyed.

It remains staggering to me that, in the absence of meaningful penalties for the people at fault, this has simply become a part of ordinary modern life.

We already have good answers on how to reduce gun violence, infant mortality or climate change.

The problem is too many people have a vested interest in the problems being unsolved. It isn’t because we haven’t invented smarter than human AI. When we do, we’ll ignore it too.

This is not the slightest bit surprising and it began prior to Trump coming back to power. As the idiot AG of Missouri was pursuing Missouri v Biden, Stephen Miller’s America First Legal sued me and my colleagues with the same forum-shopped judge and plaintiffs. Wake up: it’s a machine.
Wow: this decision in favor of Media Matters includes all sorts of key details concerning the Trump admin’s coordinated assault on the First Amendment.

For example: Steven Miller “seemingly” ordered Attorneys General in Missouri and Texas to go after MM.

if you're writing a story about "trump threatens to federalize dc," it's really worth including the fact that there is no mechanism by which he can do that, and perhaps noting what he might have been referring to instead (deploying the natl guard? presidential control of MPD?)
a) The president can't unilaterally federalize DC; Congress would need to repeal the Home Rule Act. Have fun trying to convince the parliamentarian that this doesn't actually require 60 votes in the Senate
b) Statehood please
