People discovering DISTORT on Amazon Prime is amazing. Low budget analogue horror (ish) films with indie musicians who don't tune their instruments dealing with horrors of the past and present overlapping can be a hard sell, but I hope people connect with it. Please review/share wherever you can!
DISTORT has landed on Amazon Prime in both the US and UK!
Given how shit it was to lose our beloved Sammie last summer, I have no doubts about this research.
Grief over pet death can be as strong as that for family member, survey shows, reports The Graun. Researcher calls for guidelines for diagnosing prolonged grief disorder to be expanded to cover people who lose pets. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

I swear to god, every single message I get about my films that feel like they might be well-intentioned end up being someone setting up to pitch a service or an 'awards' festival with a copy/paste message.

For the rough times that are in it, I’m living by the (para)phrase:

Bad times don’t last, but bad asses do.

There's a lot going on right now, so it's only fitting that I can add into the mix that ADVENT, my last non-found footage film I directed (produced by Aisha Tyler), has landed FOR FREE on Amazon Prime in the UK/Ireland!

UK: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/det...
Ire: www.primevideo.com/detail/0OABD...
Watch Advent | Prime Video
A famed writer returns home to Ireland to complete his long overdue second novel, but is plagued by a rogues gallery of local villagers. Their interruptions and intrusions grow more disruptive and sinister as he struggles to complete his work.

We did a marathon of the Craig Bond films on Bluray recently and it’s kinda sad to see the decline in the art of the disc menus. Quantum of Solace is so stylish and clever. No Time To Die is utterly basic. Watching Red Dwarf now and missing the cute living quarters menus of the DVD releases. Shame.

Word of mouth is the way. It’s the only thing that will make any real difference for a title. That’s why I get so excited when I share a book and you guys buy it. I know how much of a game changer it can be. Have you heard about this book called Pink Zombie Rose: Major Arcana Vol I?

I was a bit bummed because I thought I had really dropped my pace with the horror feature editing today since I only did one sequence. Now I've just completed the sequence and realised it is by far the most complex and by no means short bit of terror in the film. I can sleep sound(ish). Excitement!

A year since one of the most unique voices of our age passed. Still a gut punch every time I remember he's no longer with us.
This great print of David Lynch is front and centre in our place. Today, we lost one of our most inspirational artists and directors. No one will ever bring quite what he did to the table.

Now, go watch Inland Empire.

Ok, I promise I won't do this every time, but I've just finished cutting a HUGE scene for THE DEAD AMONG THE TREES and I am EXCITED. I wanna see this baby on a big screen with some folks.... 👀💀

1am. Really getting deep into this horror film edit, and all I can think of is people who know me watching it, shaking their head, and going "he's back on his shit again". And you know what? Damn straight I'm back on my shit again, baybay 💀

Some of you have fallen off the routine of getting your pages in on your 2026 project. Some of you are feeling like you've failed because of that.

You have not. Targets are there to get you writing, so all you have to do is start writing again. You've got this. You can finish!

Just. Keep. Writing.

I missed the 100 day milestone cuz I was in the midst of another milestone, but I’ve somehow kept my steps streak alive for over 100 days, since before the 10km race! Don’t expect me to hit 200 though, is all I’m sayin’.

A nightmare every editor fears happening, unleashed into the real world, and amped up to 11. This has made my day!
Check this out before it goes away! There is nothing on earth like Tubi.
TWISTED BY LOVE (Tubi) At around the 29 minute mark, this contains maybe the worst movie blooper I’ve ever seen. The scene ends, the actors talk about the take, the director resets, and they do another take. It’s all left in the edit.

I watched Fitzcarraldo for the first time today and am halfway into the making-of doc Burden of Dreams and just wow. I knew it was a mad production but this is incredible. Also, it makes me fall in love with filmmaking all over again. Moving a ship over a mountain shouldn’t do that, right?

Man, these were my childhood (along with TMNT and Aliens toys). I’ve a lasting memory of the sky dive Batman getting stuck on the roof of a hotel in Wexford. Bat gadget your way out of that one, Batman.
Did do you have any of these?

I had Man-Bat, Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, and Two- Face.

Hey, did you know you can get a special features packed bluray of Distort? I'm not gonna lie, it may not be on sale for much longer, so if you're in to these kinds of things, you may wanna pull the trigger! Worldwide: kunaki.com/sales.asp?PI... (Irish and EU can go to weirdprettypictures.com)

An update about a Kickstartered game from some known horror filmmakers landed this evening, and it looks like it's all very negative news. It's weird to think something with so much work done and a considerable amount of money raised is either going to not happen, or happen veeeery poorly.

If you're not subscribed to Fangoria's weekly newsletter, it's well worth it for @philnobilejr.bsky.social's editorial, especially today's one. It feels like it rings very loud in light of the past few weeks. Also the crossword. The crossword is always gas!

I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but I'm cutting the new feature film at all weird hours. Maybe some of the midnight madness will make for something truly unhinged...
