Today is the feast of the Epiphany. The feast of people on a journey. The feast of men who fled in a different direction to avoid an authoritarian with bad intentions. A holy family that became migrants in search of a better land.
Let’s open our hearts to those seeking a better life in new lands.

Thank You for Caring By Julie Peller Ph.D.
Green Junction With the start of the new year, I will reiterate my annual sentiment: I am grateful for the numerous wonderful people in my life who share a profound concern for the health of the earth and one another. I have met and interacted with so many incredible people who devote time to improving the world. I continue to believe that those who care for the earth are usually cut from the same fabric as those who care for one another and I appreciate all of their work.

When Algorithms Learn to Hold Grudges: Why AI-Powered Revenge Threatens Us All
Insights From Thomas Merton and Mortimer Adler to See-Judge/Discern - Act. Happy New Year!I want to start with a question that might make you uncomfortable: Have you ever wanted revenge? Maybe someone betrayed you at work. Perhaps an ex spreads lies about you, or even a friend. Maybe you’ve thought, “If only I had the power to make them pay.”

"For many Black Catholics, the issue is not whether the Church moved to combat racial harm, but rather if the response was sufficient to meet the powerful wave of forces so adamant on preserving the status quo, keeping Black people out of mobility and access to opportunity."
2025 was a painful year for Black Americans, with the Trump administration fueling hatred and leaving many to live in fear.

Efran Menny writes that Catholic leaders did not speak up as they could have, and that this must change in the new year. buff.ly/wi1Qgty

Article 90 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice states that service members must obey lawful orders, and failure to do so can result in serious consequences. This ensures all to uphold the Constitution & maintain duty to act within the bounds of the law.
This should apply to all U.S. citizens

Every US citizen should take this oath. And Renew taking it every 1 January thereafter. Many of us took this oath; my father took it, and millions have taken it. Most in the Trump administration and those who support it have no idea what that oath means.

It’s January 1st, 2026

This quote from General Milley would be a good start to the year

A reminder, if you will

United, you WILL defeat the “wanna be dictator”

EASILY. YES, EASILY

But ONLY if you remain as one: UNITED

As historians, we don’t say history actually repeats itself, but the patterns do. History teaches us to look for patterns to predict outcomes and change course in our world today. The KKK mantra today is found in White Christian Nationalism and in many authoritarian organizations.

I suggested to my Evangelical friends in my neighborhood, all who want to put Christ back at the center of American life by 2026, that they start by feeding all the hungry, housing all the homeless, educating all children and adults, providing healthcare for all, ending war, and establishing peace.
