NEW: Global fossil fuel use will peak before 2030 – unless 'stated policies' are abandoned

Contra some terrible news coverage, IEA World Energy Outlook shows coal near peak, oil peaking by 2030 & gas by 2035 (see chart)

What's going on? 🧵 + cool charts

I'm not sure many folks realize just how persistent the warming from CO2 is.

Here is a set of 1000-year climate model runs (using FaIR) simulating one year of CO2 emissions (40 gigatons in 2020); a millennia later the world has not cooled back down!

We focus way too much on what politicians say ,or allegedly believe, rather than what they actually do.

Alleged “beliefs” are also often used to justify illiberal and undemocratic policies and rhetoric.

So the fake claims of "trans" and "antifa" symbols comes from both ammo stamps and casing inscriptions wrongly reported.

They try to paint Tyler as left, but like Crooks this is a fringe right wing Groyper.

Here's the details on registered Republican, Tyler Robinson:

Politics today is less driven by ideological conviction and more by parties chasing votes based on a distorted picture of public opinion, one filtered through algorithms that amplify emotionally engaging content. This incentivises performance over substance and erodes democratic deliberation.
If correctly written:

"Ministers are to announce a tightening of migration rules as the government hands over the political agenda to Nigel Farage"

Both immoral and politically inept. Well done Yvette Cooper.

Das ist die direkte Folge fossiler Politik. Reiche, Merz, Klingbeil... machen diese fossile Politik. Sie wissen, was sie tun.

This is what happens when neoliberal meritocratic technocracy hollows out democracy and leaves social media to fill the vacuum with outrage, distortion, and division.

Europe relies heavily on imported fossil fuels—a big risk for energy security, competitiveness, and climate action.

Geopolitical tensions can disrupt supply and spike prices, making us all vulnerable. Investing in local clean energy is key for resilience, jobs, and a sustainable future.

Maybe we actually need echo chambers. The right created a whole echo ecosystem that dwarfed any kind of "safe space" on the left. And now they're fulfilling their sordid fantasies on the rest of us.

I want to foster a public frothing at the mouth for open borders and feminist liberation.

This is the core of it. In the 20th century, verification happened inside institutions.
Now, it has to happen in us.
A short thread on what that shift really means, and why it has to start in schools. 🧵
Who should do the fact checks with millions and millions of fake news? The nature of social media itself is the problem. However it probably is impossible to get rid of every social network and revert debates to pre 2010-status.
