Could make arguments either way on whether this is a direct violation of Article I, Sect. 10, Clause 3. Not that I oppose it. Time for states to start exercising authority in weird ways, regardless of whether they have such authority.

'The Red Necklace.' (c1916) Ben Nicholson's paintings from this period are clearly affected by his father William Nicholson's work. In an interview he made sure people understood this: 'I owe a lot to my father, especially to his poetic idea and his still-life theme.'

'Salt Ash, Cornwall.' (c1930) Alfred Wallis has been made to matter in British art because he can be subsumed into a grand narrative that charts painting's long march from the representational and figurative towards abstraction.

I like doing simple snapshots to loosen things up. And as long as I'm in snapshot mode I thought I'd play with Pixo instant, snapshooting at it's simplest. No control, you turn it loose and you get what you get. You never know what that might be. It's a blast.

Charles Ginner's picture is a closely focused view of a lichen covered blackthorn tree, which tilts towards his sister's house in Boscastle, a village on the north coast of Cornwall near the Devon border. He first painted here in 1915 and continued to do so until 1947.

'Barbershop,' was most likely painted in 1946 when Adrian Heath was living in the South of France.  He had taught Terry Frost when they were both imprisoned during WW2 and later advised him to move to St Ives in 1946. Both artists later turned to painting in full abstract.
